Abstract:
The presentation will introduce how 5G technology was developed from concepts to the real system, how the technology was selected for inclusion into 5G standard, why the 5G market start from eMBB and what are the problems required the Beyond 5G technology to resolve.

Biography:
Dr. I-Kang Fu (IK.Fu@mediatek.com) received his Ph. D degree from the Department of Communication Engineering of National Chiao-Tung University, Taiwan, in 2007. He is currently a senior manager in MediaTek, serving as Head of Delegate in 3GPP TSG-RAN for 5G standardization and coordinating the Beyond 5G (B5G) technology development within MediaTek. He is also the Chair of TAICS (Taiwan Association of Information and Communication Standards) TC1 (Adv. Comm.) and the Leader of GTI 5G Sub-6GHz Project. Prior to 5G, he was actively contributing to 4G technology development and standardization works in IEEE, WiMAX Forum and 3GPP since 2005.
