Abstract:
Vertexcom produces RF and PLC chips and provides mesh network solutions, Mesh network enhance communication coverage without sacrificing the data rate. The first part of this talk introduces two mesh networks, Wi-SUN FAN (RF mesh) and G3-PLC (PLC mesh). We’ll overview the operation and protocol stacks in the beginning brief the general ideal of mesh routing, and finally discusses the difficulties of realizing the mesh networks.
Power Line Communication received much attention in recent years. To enable the smart grid concept, PLC offers the advantages for utilities to use their own infrastructure as communication media. In addition, OFDM based PLC technologies became mainstream because it brings reliable high data rate communication between data concentrator and stations.
As a physical layer engineer’s point of view, we’ll introduce several OFDM based PLC standards, their baseband structure, and the challenges we faced on PLC physical layer.
Short Bio:
Walter Li (李元化),
SW VP of Vertexcom, graduated from the department of CSIE of NCTU in 1993, and then the institute of EE of NTU in 1995. After that, he joined SiS, Trendchip, Ralink, MTK, and finally helped founding Vertexcom. He worked on the digital IC and software design on various computer and communication products.
方博雋,
alumni of NTHU, graduated with master degree of communication engineering on 2010. In his school years, he worked in CCRG lab, advised by prof. 洪樂文.
He’s now working at Vertexcom, a communication IC design company, as Deputy Manager of firmware design department, leading baseband DSP development of multiple PLC standards.
