Abstract :
One major challenge that differentiates multi-user communications from its point-to-point counterpart is that in a multiuser scenario, signals from one node would cause interference to nodes within transmission range. Recently, there has emerged a novel perspective of dealing with interference which tries to harness interference via structured codes. An outstanding example of such the new paradigm is physical-layer network working (a.k.a. compute-and-forward.) While the problem of coding and modulation for point-to-point communication is well-understood, our knowledge about coding and modulation for physical-layer network coding remains fairly limited. In this talk, we will first briefly review physical-layer network coding and then reveal the algebraic structure behind it. This understanding will lead us to new coding and modulation schemes for physical-layer network-coding.
