Abstract:
Spectrum detection and sharing schemes in wireless communications have recently attracted much attention due to the increasing commercial demands and the scarcity of spectra. By exploiting the frequency and temporal holes, the spectrum sharing scheme can provide a better spectral efficiency with only limited costs. Besides, the intense competition for spectra leads to various transceiver developments such as MIMO, 3D beamforming, etc.

In this seminar, we plan to provide a survey on spectrum detection and sharing technologies. Specifically, our topics include the fundamental theories, such as binary hypothesis test and receiver operating curve. The spectrum sensing technologies, including conventional detectors, sequential detector, the cooperative detector will also be introduced. Perspectives from the industry and governmental authorities, such as database assisted sensing, licensed shared access/authorized shared access, and LTE-U etc, will also be discussed. This seminar is expected to provide beneficial information for students working in the communications/networking area.
