Bio: Dr. Allen Lu received his B.S. from National Taiwan University and his Ph.D. from Stanford University. Dr. Lu joined Hewlett Packard Company in 1997, where he focused on HomeRF chip development for 2.4GHz wireless home networking. He joined a start-up, Excess Bandwidth, in Silicon Valley to develop HDSL2, G.shdsl, ADSL wireless communication ICs in 1999. In 2002, Dr. Lu and his classmates funded Afa Technologies in Taiwan, and developed the first high speed powerline communication IC and the wireless terrestrial TV receiver. Afa Technologies was acquired by iTE Corp. in 2008. Dr. Lu joined Novatek in 2012, where he is in charge of video IoT technology and product development.
Abstract: Internet of Things (IoT) is defined as "a global, immersive, invisible, ambient networked computing environment built through the continued proliferation of smart sensors, cameras, software, databases and massive data centers in a world-spanning information fabric."While the IoT will encompass thousands of devices and show up in a variety of forms, video plays a prominent role in various market and applications such as automotive, drone, surveillance, retail, robots, and VR/AR.Video IoTs drive technology innovation and fusion for the applications aforementioned. This talk gives some examples of the fusion applications and the technical trend for video IoT from the industrial perspective.
