Abstract:
Motivated by a variety of network applications (e.g., google map) and systems (e.g., Internet of things) requiring timely information, in recent years there has been a growing interest in an age of information. The age of information, defined to capture the freshness of information, measures the amount of time that elapsed since the latest information was generated at the sources. In this talk, I will introduce the new topic, summarize related works, and share our recent results on age-optimal scheduling.
Bio:
Yu-Pin Hsu received his BS and MS degrees from National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan, in 2005 and 2007 respectively, and his PhD degree from Texas A&M University, USA, in 2014. He was with the Center for Information and Communications Technology in National Chiao Tung University, as a research assistant between 2007 and 2009. During the period of 2014 and 2016, he was a joint post-doctoral fellow with Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Singapore University of Technology and Design. He is currently an assistant professor with Department of Communication Engineering in National Taipei University. His research interests center around communication networks with the focus on algorithmic and control-theoretic aspects.
