Abstract:
Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) are new terms that appeared in 2009 and 2012 respectively. They represent an emerging network architecture and a new concept in the operation of network services.
In 2012, Google showed the world the results of their deployment of SDN in the data center, and the network utilization has increased from about 30% to over 90%. This amazing result has attracted the attention of the world. From this time on, global network equipment providers, telecom operators, and software companies like Facebook and Microsoft have invested a lot of money and manpower for SDN research and development. No doubt, SDN is leading the development of future network technologies.
With the gradual maturity of SDN and NFV technologies, 5G mobile networks directly adopt SDN and NFV as the core technology of the core network. What exactly is SDN? What is NFV? Let's take a look!
Biography:
蔡教授的研究領域包括4G/5G行動網路、物聯網、軟體定義網路等，已發表超過50篇期刊及研討會論文，曾獲得潘文淵研究考察獎、IEEE 台北分會傑出貢獻獎。2012年曾擔任美國南加州大學訪問學者。蔡教授在教學方面頗受好評，曾獲得成功大學2014年教學傑出獎 (top 1%) 及2017年教學優良獎 (top 5%)。蔡教授曾擔行教育部行動寬頻尖端技術跨校教學聯盟中「SDN/NFV核心網路」課程之計畫主持人，該課程教材已被國內十多所大專院校所使用。目前正在製作MOOCs線上課程「軟體定義網路」，預計將在2019年9月於中華開放教育平台 (OpenEdu) 開課。
