Introduction to the Cross Z-Complementary Pair

Abstract : 

In this talk, a new class of complementary sequences called the cross Z-complementary pair (CZCP) will be introduced. CZCPs have been proposed to be employed as training sequences in the spatial modulation (SM) system. Due to the zero correlation zone (ZCZ) properties for their autocorrelation sums and cross-correlation sums, optimal channel estimation performance over frequency-selective channels can be achieved. In this talk, constructions of CZCPs and the optimal training design for SM systems will be presented.

Bio :

Chao-Yu Chen received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Hsinchu, in 2000 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in communications engineering from NTHU, Hsinchu, in 2002 and 2009, respectively, under the supervision of Prof. Chi-chao Chao. He was a Senior Engineer and Technical Manager in Communication System Design division, Mediatek Inc., Hsinchu, Taiwan, from 2009 to 2016. Since February 2016, he has been with the National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan, where he is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Engineering Science. His current research interests include sequence design, error-correcting codes, digital communications, and wireless networks. He was a recipient of the 15th Y. Z. Hsu Science Paper Award administered by Far Eastern Y. Z. Hsu Science and Technology Memorial Foundation, Taiwan, in 2017 and the Best Paper Award for Young Scholars by the IEEE Information Theory Society Taipei Chapter and the IEEE Communications Society Taipei/Tainan Chapter in 2018.
