Abstract:
In IC design, high performance, low power consumption, and low chip die size are very important to take into be considered with trade-off. Moreover, 5G or beyond 5G provides the high throughput and high-quality internet access (e.g., high-order QAM support up to 1K or 4K-QAM) even under harsh wireless environmental conditions. The high-order QAM needs high transmitted (Tx) EVM or received (Rx) SNR requirements. However, the Tx EVM or Rx SNR would be dominated by RF circuits impairment due to imperfect factors (e.g., RF noise, amplifier non-linearity, and I/Q imbalance, etc.) and in-chip interference. Advanced technologies have continually been investigated or designed to compensate these RF impairments and cancel noise (or in-chip interference) to enhance system performance. In this presentation, we will also show some digital assisted methods and measurement results.
Biography:
Chun-Hsien Peng received the B.S. degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Taipei University of Technology in 2001. He received the Ph.D. degree from Institute of Communications Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering, National Tsing Hua University in 2006. He has been with MediaTek from January 2007 to now, 16 years work experience. His research interests include statistical signal processing, digital signal processing, wireless communications, digital-RF systems design and calibrations for 4G/5G/beyond 5G cellular IC design. He also published 11 IEEE papers in statistical signal processing areas and 6 IEEE papers/14 patents related with digital-RF system and self-testing design.
