   6G Massive MIMO Technology Evolution

Abstract: 

  Since the introduction of 5G-NR by 3GPP, massive MIMO technology has made rapid progress in several aspects, including enhancements to the channel state information (CSI) framework and uplink CSI. In 3GPP Release 18, the technology is further extended to Coherent Joint Transmission (CJT) with multiple transmission/reception points (multi-TRP). Massive MIMO is increasingly becoming an indispensable technology for future wireless networks. In this talk, by reviewing the evolution of MIMO in 3GPP, we will shed light on emerging issues, potential directions, and its future vision. Furthermore, we will analyze and compare various massive MIMO architectures, considering recently emerging technologies such as Reconfigurable Smart Surfaces (RIS).

Autobiography: 

  溫朝凱博士為國立中山大學通訊工程研究所教授，科睿唯安高被引學者。他曾擔任國立中山大學通訊所所長(2019~2022)及工學院副院長(2020~2023)。在加入中山大學之前，他在2004年至2009年間曾在工業技術研究院(ITRI)和聯發科技(MTK)擔任工程師。溫教授主要研究方向在通訊訊號處理，他目前擔任多個 IEEE 期刊的編輯/副編輯/客座編輯，包括 IEEE Trans. Wireless Communications、IEEE Trans. Communications、IEEE Wireless Communications Letters、IEEE Communications Letters、IEEE Communication Magazine。他曾獲得多個獎項，包括 2016 GLOBECOM、 2022 ICC 最佳論文獎、2023 Jack Neubauer Memorial Award、IEEE Wireless Communications Letters 及IEEE Communications Letters最佳編輯獎。此外，溫教授已連續5年獲選為中山大學產學績優教師(技轉及非政府產學總金額逾5,000萬新台幣)，他所教授的多門課程已連續超過10年被中山大學評為優秀教學課程。
