Abstract :
Multimedia communication is exploding with growth. Thanks to the advances of exciting application, wireless communication technology, and mobile computing platform, the research area has attracted serious attention in order to seamlessly provide interactive and ubiquitous multimedia experience. To make it happen, the pursuit of higher system capacity in resource limited wireless networks is critical and never-ending. Focusing on the problem of wireless multimedia resource management, this talk will present OLM (Opportunistic Layered Multicasting), a lead-off and complete synergy of layered video multicasting with opportunistic concept. Favorable results comparing with non-opportunistic methods demonstrate OLM’s potential to be a breakthrough.
